Sunday, just checking what’s up on friends blogs, and already have some new resolutions for the NewYear
Must make it happen!

They say money won’t make you happy, they say you need a week to feel good after your holiday… AAAaa what tha fu%$#%k do they know… Nothing.  After your holiday you’ll never be the same. Coming back to work is like coming back to jail, you thought it’ll neve happen again but then you run out of money and BAMMM the bubble dream is over… Anyway it was fantastic, we did everything we planned, so central Japan dosn’t have secrets for us. Of course I was tired like hell, imagine 14 days of walking and walking and walking in hot, humid environment. I lost 3 kilos although I ate like mad. Photos… well… we have lots of them but they are… not so cool, actually there are only few photos worth showing.

Ok. So you have a ticket. Check, maybe you have friends in Japan, or someone who you know has somebody there. Nop? Well if you are not a millionere check hostels http://www.jyh.or.jp/english/index.html If you can sleep everywhere, you don’t have anything against cockroaches and you want to see Kyoto book Uno House http://unohouse.fte.jp/ I can guarantee you will not forget it… Never.

Let’s see, you have a ticket, you have booked some hostel, aaa now better check your airport and transportation – you’ll be less stressed when you’ll see this 出口 or that　トイレ. Check where is train / bus station – sometimes it’s not obvious, check it especially when you want to save money for something else. Usually it works out better to take the bus. You can buy also 1-8 days rail pass which is great but you can buy it only once during your stay and only if your’re staying in Japan only for 15 (!!!) days. So think it through three times and decide when to use it…  Check e.g. Kansai Pass http://www.westjr.co.jp/english/travel/jrp/index.html If you already decided how will you get out of the airport think again and print the map of the airport. Unless you speak and read japanese. I wouldn’t count on Japanese ability to speak foreign languages that can be… fun. Japanese tend to run away… or they show crossed arms sayin’ “no, no english”. Sometimes they speak japanese but that is rare, especially when they hear you speaking japanese. So under any circumstances don’t say a word in japanese! Either you’ll get response in broken english (japanized english) – Japanese don’t believe that anybody could possibly somehow be able to learn it or you’ll get answer in japanese nobody would understand – in some dialect. Ok ok in Tokyo one can be lucky and get a decent conversation but I believe only there.

Quite popular word these days, when you want to travel and not spend all your money on travel agent. However you do have to be careful in order not to spend it anyway by simply being not prepared for your trip. We had that problem in Italy month ago, everything was fine until we felt we didn’t spend that much… Hell, why do we have to save so much, let’s spend some mony and then there was that big ice cream for 18 Euros… So anyway, be ready for your trip. This is something we (or rather me) are doing. Preparation! Well we have some advantage over other backpackers dreaming about Japan – we have friend there who has an apartment and we do speak some japanese and we already were there. But if you feel you can handle without that kind of advantages here are some tips

Lesson one – find cheap ticket.  Check Finnair, Swissair, Turkish Air or Aeroflot.

A thief came into our office – to everybody’s surprise – he spent almost three hours wandering from room to room. Almost unnoticed. Those who thought he is a thief didn’t react simply because they weren’t sure and didn’t have much time to lose. Conclusion? Know the company, check at least 2 names, be confident and steal unnoticed.
